Pastures is a cherished community site in Leytonstone, north-east London. Located in Davies Lane, just off Leytonstone High Road, the site has three parts:
– The Pastures Centre – a large sports hall and community event space
– A separate historic building now known as Good Shepherd Studios
– Our Pastures Community Garden
Pastures has been a feature of the Leytonstone community for more than a century. It has a fascinating past, a dynamic present, and an exciting future.
In 2020, Pastures was identified for development by Waltham Forest Council. The local community came together and formed the ‘Save Our Pastures’ campaign group to help preserve the site for future generations. An effective and highly visible campaign led to positive discussions with the Council. As a result, the redevelopment proposal was withdrawn.
The campaign has now changed to a community group with the name ‘Our Pastures’. We work in collaboration with Waltham Forest Council, charities, sports groups, arts collectives and other organisations to bring a renewed sense of purpose to this important site, and to add to Leytonstone’s wider community, creative and economic footprint.
This website has been developed by Our Pastures to raise awareness about the facilities available at Pastures and encourage their widest possible use. You can find out about the events and activities for all ages taking place across the site and how to make a booking for your own activity.
