Pastures is a community site located in Leytonstone, north east London which comprises of a Sports hall and large utility building (know as the Good Shepherd building) which has been providing many different facilities and services to the community for over 100 years.
In 2020, Pastures was identified as a site for development by Waltham Forest Council. The community came together and formed the ‘Save Our Pastures’ campaign to help preserve the site for future generations to enjoy and, after discussions with the Council, the redevelopment proposal was withdrawn.
The campaign has now changed to a community group under the name ‘Our Pastures’ and now works in collaboration with Waltham Forest Council, charities, sports groups, arts collectives and other groups to give the site a renewed sense of purpose and add to Leytonstone’s wider community, creative and economic footprint.
This website has been developed by the Our Pastures community to raise awareness of the facilities available at Pastures and encourage their wide use.
